Interests meme
Oct. 2nd, 2007 01:19 pmComment on this post and I will pick seven of your interests from your LJ interest list. You then explain them in your journal and re-post. My interest selection below courtesy of

Athens - I am interested in the city and its history for many reasons. There is a debate going on there right now as to whether a 1930’s protected art-deco building should be razed in order to remove it from the sightline between the new museum and the Acropolis. It’s just a crazy place, and I find that cool. I also feel like understanding the roots of democracy is valuable in a world where it is being held up as the only solution to the world’s problems. (However, some of these folks seem to have confused “rule by the people” with “rule by the people unless we disagree with the people, and then we will do whatever we want”).
Beads – These are shiny things. Shiny things are good. Pretty things are good.
Body image – I am one of those rare people who are satisfied with their body shape. As a student of anthropology I find the relationships that all people have with their bodies fascinating and I enjoy reading about people with many different attitudes on the subject of their bodies and their feelings about their bodies.
Gleaning – This is something I grew up doing, and have recently revived an interest in. As a part of my efforts to contribute to a more sustainable world, I like to take every opportunity to make use of items (especially food) that might otherwise go to waste.
Nik Kershaw – An 80’s singer – songwriter whose career I have followed for some time. He has a recent album out, self-produced, which I have not finished listening to. I enjoy his lyrics which are complex and surprising.
PMC- Precious Metal Clay or PMC is a brand name for the silver clay which I am learning to use to make jewelry. I am interested in new techniques and in making unique and interesting shiny things.
post-hoc-ergo-propter-hoc – After which therefore because of which was added to my interest list in reaction to the pedophilia scandal on LJ a while back. It also reminds me that oversimplification can be bad. (btw - credit for this should go to
misia)
